Much like the entire Samurai and Dynasty Warriors franchise, those of a tactical and strategic persuasion will love the Empires edition whereas those looking for in-depth storytelling will prefer the original titles. Indeed, Empires has little story in comparison to its predecessors it’s all about building your faction as you fight to gain control of the land. Quite simply, Samurai Warriors 4: Empires primarily focuses on you joining a faction while implementing different kinds of policies, strategies, and tactics prior to battle as you look to take control of all territories on the map.
Now, unless you’re familiar with the Samurai and Dynasty Warriors franchise, you may struggle to understand what the Empires edition is all about. Previously purchased mounts, costumes and BGM from Samurai Warriors 4 and Samurai Warriors 4-II are transferable to the game.Centered during the Sengoku period – between the 16th and 17th century, Samurai Warriors 4: Empires is the third installment in the Empires series and the follow-up to Samurai Warriors 4-II. In this section players will be able to find released downloadable content which range from costumes and scenarios. Similar to the Dojo in previous title, players can watch unlocked events, view character biographies and also view the music gallery.
If available, players can also equip downloaded costume DLC's here. In this mode, the player is free to create his own CAWS and also has the ability to replace them with other generic officers featured within the game.
New to the series, players will have the option to select an 'ambition' for particular clans, which can range from unting the land, reaching the capital, unifying a certain region or eliminating a specific clan. In Genesis Mode, the player is free to create or edit his very own Scenario by choosing warlords and officers and placing them in desired parts of the map. The game features the following scenarios: Before doing so, the player can choose what difficulty to play with, set character replacements, female characters, character deaths and also place non-replaced caws in desired clans. By completing certain scenario's, others can be unlocked. Each clan also has clan-specific objectives. Like previous Empires titles, Empire mode gives the freedom to choose a specific scenario in which the player is free to select a clan to start with.
